10 reasons we love our Martinborough Property.

  1. We have worked our asses off on this property and we still have many more exciting, creative projects to complete. There is zero room for boredom around here.
  2. It took us a long time to find, and nothing else in the entire country holds the same potential and capacity for dream fulfilment as this home.
  3. We have it all – A spacious fully renovated gorgeous black barn, every inch marked with our blood, sweat, laughter and creativity. A giant lockable man shed with a concrete floor. A historic cottage. A light-filled studio and gallery with panoramic views of our olive grove. A woodshed. A tree-house. A garden shed. An outdoor bath. We have pets. We have black beauty the truck, a tractor, bikes, harvesting equipment, easels, good health, a son, oodles of authentic, innovative creative talent, and we have each other.
  4. Our pets are buried here. Here lies the spirit of Inky the cat, Freda the black sheep, and Squiggles the pig.
  5. We have gardens and trees that sustain us. From towering tomato trees in summer to dense heads of broccoli in winter, our bunny proof garden was built by hand, from scratch. We brine our own olives, make our own pesto, pick fruit from our orchard, and produce world-class, award-winning extra virgin olive oil.
  6. Our friends love us and we love them. Living here for eight years in a cultured, interesting wine-village oozing with rich history, lovely locals and fun week-enders, it’s been easy to make not only great acquaintances, neighbours, and work connections, but heart-felt friends that feed our souls.
  7. One must enjoy the fruits of ones labour. The native strip we planted has yet to become a forest. The kauri has yet to reach epic Tane Mahuta proportions and maybe the totara is waiting for a mokopunas placenta before it towers above the flaxes.
  8. It’s big. Big enough to get up to 100km an hour on a quad bike. Big enough to play golf down the rows. Big enough to have a wood pile. Big enough to have an epic potato and pumpkin patch. Big enough for nephews to run around for hours. Big enough for family to come and stay. Big enough to host a wedding or three. Big enough for a future relocated mansion and swimming pool. Big enough for a nana tiny house in the future.
  9. The light is just right. For painting. For sewing. For gin and tonics at dusk. For wine and beer o’clock. For dreaming. For watching shooting stars. For inspiration and for creating.
  10. Memories burst out from every corner. Our home is our whanau’s home. Our memories are their memories. They love it here. We love it here. Laughter and love spills from this place, so shine on we shall.

Thanks Joelle. Glad you loved our Wolfies olive oil. Always fabulous sharing a table with you ( and the wine expert part of you) at a tasting event. Hope your writing is going well, cheers Leanne and Greg
